The Bridge Across Forever: A Lovestory
 | von Richard Bach
ISBN: 0440108268 | Bestselling author Richard Bach explores the meaning of fate and soul mates in this modern-day fairytale based on his real-life relationship with actor Leslie Parrish. "This is a story about a knight who was dying, and the princess who saved his life," Bach writes in his opening greeting. "It's a story about beauty and beasts and spells and fortresses, about death-powers that seem and life-powers that are." Yes, it is all that, and more. On the earthly plane this is about the riveting love affair between two fully human people who are willing to explore time travel and other dimensions together even as they grapple with the earthly struggles of intimacy, commitment, smothering, and whose turn it is to cook. Their love affair and happy ending inspired many enthusiastic fans. Years later, some of these fans were devastated to discover that this match made in heaven didn't manage to stick (the couple are no longer together). But in an Amazon interview, Bach explains that lovers don't have to stay married forever to be lifetime soul mates. Read this as a lesson about love's enchantments and possibilities, but don't count on this book to keep you and your mate on the bridge across forever. --Gail Hudson
Richard does it again. Totally got what I wanted out of it. Ever since reading Illusions Richard Bach has been a role model for myself. Every book of his I buy I know I'll learn something from it. He has helped me realize much more than I could even imagine remembering without him. Myself and everyone else is so much greater than we think. That I know and Richard is one of a few that helped me realize it. This Lovestory is different from any other love story you've probably read. Richard sets absolutely no limitations to what he can do. Imagine dying by just simply leaving your body when you're ready to, or travelling within your dreams with another individual both waking up telling the same story any time you wanted to. The way he writes makes you think it is possible and I truly believe it all is.
Richard needs help. This book was not inspiring to me. I have read many book by authors such as James Allen, Thich Nhat Hanh, Jim Rohn, Scott Peck and others that are more creative and inspiring. While there is some positive thoughts and intelligent writing, for the most part I found myself frustrated with Richards contempt for the IRS, immature view of relationships and endless search for his soul mate. I expected a more realistic description to Richard's life, maturity and love, but received an ego based drama that leaves me feeling short changed. For those who are more emotional and less analytical, you will find more enjoy from this book than I. Happy reading.
A question to Richard and Leslie I have read Richard's books since I was 16 years old and met Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I have read all his books in Spanish and English. I read this book on July 1986, since that time I have a question to the author: How would be their lifes if they had had children??? It's easy to be soul-mates being only two together. Have you ever think in that alternate past, present or future?? I have enjoyed reading this book so many times during the last 12 years. I have divorced twice since that date and I'm still looking for my soul-mate. I have a daughter. Thank you for sharing your lives with us .
