Hi guys

its now almost 7 month ago when i came back from England. I have been there for ca 12 month to improve my english and to learn something about GB. But to get to the point i got the feeling that I am losing my english even if i do speak english all the time when I am at school with an american support teacher but thats just not enough. And somehow it is pissing me off! I also do watch movies in english etc.
It takes me much longer to translate form german into english the other way round its no problem at all. And sometimes i cant even think of the right translation have to look it up or just find another formulation. (for the easiest stuff which wasnt a problem in the beginning)
Hope u know what i mean.
Even to writte this wasnt easy and i guess there are xxxxx errors.

I guess u have been aboard as well. so what are u doing to keep ur english?
Because every now and then i am getting problems with word order or have to think of " My friends and I/myself" etc
I am starting to write like a german does translate word by word if u know what i mean?! e.g. in school at school

Start reading some high-class English texts on a regular basis, like The Economist.

I regularly read Der Spiegel to practice my German, though lately I've been lacking the time.

Also, if you're concerned about losing your English, it's important to not be really lazy with what you're writing, even if it is on the internet. I'm talking about your use of you're, your = ur. It's just bad form, and it will lead to you eventually confusing the two. I know many English speakers who do the same (even worse is their inability to work the difference between their, there and they're)

EVERY time you are sitting in front of your computer, go online and listen to the bbc world service. (or to programmes from the BBC archives that deal with topics you are interested in.)
