New York Sights

Hello my name is Moritz and I want to tell you something about the New York sights. At first I say a little bit about New York City. New York City lies on the east coast of the USA. With over 8 million inhabitants is it the biggest City in the USA. New York have 5 boroughs Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and the Staten Island. The nickname of new york is the big apple.

Now I told you something about the famous sights in New York. One of the sights in New York are the statue of liberty. This statue was a present from French for the 100th birthday of the Declaration of Independence. It should be a greeting for the immigrants. You can go on the top of the statue and have a nice view about New York and in the ground of the statue is a Museum.

Another sight is the empire state building. It’s the biggest building in New York. It’s one of the 10 highest buildings in the world. On the 86 stage you can watch the panorama of New York.

A famous sight was the world trade centre. It was the second highest building of the world. It was destroyed in 2001 by terrorists.

And now I say something about the central park. It’s the second biggest park of the world behind the English garden at Munich. It’s the home of jogger and inline-skater. In the summer you can see a lot of families who do picnic or kids who play football or baseball. You see people ride on horses, too. In the central park is a lake where you can paddle with a boat or something else. In the central park is a zoo where you can see a lot of animals.

The Brooklyn bridge is the oldest suspension bridge of the USA. It links the two borough Manhattan and Brooklyn. It costs 18 million dollar to build this bridge. To examine whether the bridge can carry great weight sent the Barnum circus a lot of elephants over. At sunset you have a wonderful view on the New Yorker skyline.

The Wallstreet is the most famous street at the financial District in New York. There are a lot of banks and the biggest stock exchange of the world. You can watch the commercial space and there is an exhibition on the history.

The Madison square garden is the famous arena of the world. At the Madison square garden you can see concerts or ice hockey and basketball plays. There was Elvis Presley who had gave 4 concerts in the arena.

Da sind in der Tat diverse Fehler drin... ich nenne nur mal ein paar:

- Du musst darauf achten, dass du, wenn dein Subjekt im Singular steht, auch das Verb in den Singular setzt. So musst es z.B. heißen "New York has five boroughs" (weil ja "New York" Singular ist) und auch "One of the sights in New York is the Statue of Liberty" (weil ja "one of the sights" wiederum Singular ist).

- Dann musst du auf den Satzbau achten - teilweise klingen deine Sätze sehr deutsch, weil du den deutschen anstelle des englischen Satzbaus verwendest. So muss es z.B. heißen "With... habitants it is the biggest city" und "... the Barnum circus sent a lot of elephants over".

- Teilweise verwendest du auch falsche Zeitformen. So muss es z.B. heißen "Now I tell you something about the famous sights in New York" (wenn du "told" verwendest, hieße das ja, dass du schon etwas darüber erzählt hast); man könnte hier auch das Futur verwenden. Des Weiteren musst du sagen "It cost 18 million dollar to build this bridge" (= Vergangenheit, weil die Brücke ja längst gebaut wurde) und auch "... Elvis Presley who gave..." (die Form "had gave" gibt es überhaupt nicht).

- "... was a present from French" ist auch falsch - entweder "from France" (= von Frankreich) oder "from the French" (= von den Franzosen).

Da sind noch mehr Fehler drin, die ich aus Zeitmangel jetzt leider nicht noch korrigieren kann.

Die Sache mit greeting for the immigrants und You can watch the commercial space klingt auch irgendwie komisch. Bin mir da nicht sicher.
