EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht awarded by the German Council of Science and Humanities29.05.2012 - (idw) EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht
EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht has received institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities. This academic seal of approval is awarded to private higher education institutions whose teaching and research performance meet recognized academic standards.
"We are delighted to receive this award", said Professor Rolf D. Cremer, President of EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht. "This accreditation attests once more to the outstanding quality and performance in both research and the education of aspiring legal professionals and business managers at EBS Universität. It underlines that EBS Universität is one of the leading private universities in Germany."
Accreditation was granted to EBS Universität for ten years. Decisive factors for the award were, among others, the clear growth strategy, involving the establishment of EBS Law School, and EBS Universität's extensive network of corporate partners and international partner universities. The Council of Science and Humanities also underlined the quality of research performance and, in particular, the promotion of young researchers. Furthermore, it praised the appointment of renowned professors to EBS Law School.
The accreditation from the Council of Science and Humanities is already the second accreditation to be awarded to EBS Universität this year. In April it received the EQUIS European hallmark of quality confirming that management education at EBS Universität meets the highest international standards.
Further expansion of basic research as recommended by the Council confirms EBS Universität's long-term strategic orientation. Part of this strategy is continued internationalization and the integration of external researchers into academic life. For instance, external experts are involved in the Doctoral Studies Regulations at EBS Law School.
The Council of Science and Humanities is one of the leading science policy advisory bodies in Germany. It advises the Federal Government and the governments of the German federal states on the development of science, research and higher education. The Council is composed of 54 members including scientists, public figures and representatives of the federal government and the federal states. Among others, the Council produces recommendations to ensure that German science and humanities remain competitive at national, European and international level. At the request of a federal state government, it also reviews and assesses the academic performance of state-recognized private higher education institutions. The Hesse Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts had applied for accreditation on behalf of EBS Universität.
As part of the accreditation process, the institution to be accredited must first present a so-called "self-report" in which it provides details on various subject areas. These include academic quality standards in teaching and research, organization, facilities and infrastructure, funding and quality assurance. The Council of Science and Humanities reviews this information and, after visiting the institution, decides on the award of the academic seal of quality.
