BGS Chapter to celebrate its 10-year anniversary at HHL in 2014
Anne Aufhaus, doctoral candidate at the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Chair at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, was officially awarded the Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship, which comes with a monetary prize of USD 1,000, on March 21, 2014. Ms. Aufhaus is currently preparing her dissertation on "The Contribution of Multinational Companies to Handling the Challenges of Business Ethics in Globalization" and qualified for the award as a result of her excellent academic performance in HHL's Doctoral Program. The scholarship honors her commitment as a personnel trainer und recruiter just as well, which she shows beyond her professional tasks. The scholarship is jointly funded by the BGS Central Office and the Association of Friends of HHL.
Being one of eight business schools in Germany to be accredited by AACSB, HHL has one of two German Chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS). The BGS Chapter at HHL will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. BGS seeks to promote and recognize academic performance in the field of economics, to advise its membersto observe the values of Beta Gamma Sigma (honor, integrity, pursuit of wisdom, earnestness) as well as to foster economic thinking and lifelong learning. Another important aspect is the promotion of ethics in the economy. With about 725,000 members in over 530 chapters at business schools accredited by AACSB, Beta Gamma Sigma is the largest alumni organization in the field of economics.
A BGS membership is commonly regarded as a sign of academic excellence. Every year, the Chapter invites the top 20 percent of all graduates from HHL's study programs and everyone who completed the school's doctoral program to join the honorary society. Additionally, the BGS Scholarship is awarded each year.
