Fit for the Job Market. HHL Students give their Alma Mater Top Grades for Job Chances

HHL on the winners podium at Universum's Image Award "Employability & Career Opportunities" The topic of employability and career opportunities is increasingly important for students nowadays and is almost as significant as the training opportunities of a school. According to a recent study by Universum Communication, HHL students association with this topic is 37 percent above the average in comparison to other private schools in Germany.

HHL stepped up to the winners podium at yesterday's image award ceremony of the employer-branding specialist Universum "Top University 2014 Employability and Career Opportunities" in the category of private schools. The image award is given on basis of the students' opinion and answers the question how HHL students view their Alma Mater.

The top three items HHL students associate with employability and career opportunities:
1. Focus on professional development
2. Supports entrepreneurial action and thinking
3. Good references for the career and/or training AND
3. High employment rate of graduates (both tied for number three)

Valerie Elsner, 25, student in the Master in Management Program (M.Sc.), says, "The career options I have through HHL were a deciding factor for my studies at HHL. At the state university where I studied for my bachelor's degree, students were left on their own with their career questions. At HHL, however, I receive excellent career support up to personal contacts in companies. HHL's big network of Alumni is excellent and very helpful in this context."

Universum developed a brand framework for the university partners, which was implemented for the first time in the Universum Student Survey 2014. This framework looks at the perception of the school as a brand from the point of view of currently enrolled students as well as participants from other schools in Germany. The internal perception of the school was measured in 36 attributes in four categories "image & reputation of the school", "training opportunities", "culture and student life at the school" as well as "employability & career opportunities". 30,000 students from 140 university-level schools participated in the study this year.

Career Service at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management

Students, graduates, as well as companies are the target groups for HHL's career services. Its services include:
Individual consultation directed towards personal career objectives.
Support in the application process for work experience placements and direct entry into a company.
Regular recruiting events (corporate presentations, workshops, etc.).
Production of a résumé book and its distribution to over 500 contacts in companies within Germany and abroad.
The HHL online recruiting platform.
Post-graduate career service for HHL graduates.
For companies: publication of job and internship offers, on-campus recruiting, access to résumé books.
HHL's Career Service has established a personal development module for its MBA students. It prepares students during their studies for their future career in management. The offer includes a personality test, application training as well as mentoring by HHL alumni within the various industries.
